Conflicts of interest are not uncommon in today’s workplace. The key is to be aware when a potential conflict of interest, or the appearance of a potential conflict of interest, appears. Then let someone know about your situation. Most potential conflicts can be easily addressed – but only if you let someone know before you hit problems.
