Job Descriptions: Critical Role in HR, Workers Comp, and Safety Management
Job descriptions are critical for both practical and legal reasons. They are an essential tool in developing hiring criteria and navigating the candidate selection process. Job descriptions can also be very useful for ascertaining return to work/light duty assignments in workers’ compensation cases.
Upon course completion, you will be able to:
- Avoid disputes between employees related to their area of duty
- Clarify positions for collective bargaining unit purposes
- Determine the appropriate amount of compensation
- Identify which positions can be classified as exempt for FLSA
- Avoid claims of disparate treatment
- Delineate “safety sensitive positions” for purposes of “return to work” in worker’s comp cases and under some state medical cannabis laws
