Moving from Peer to Boss: Supervisor 101

This session is designed to provide best practices on how to transition from a peer to a boss effectively. In this session, we will discuss some of the challenges that you may face while transitioning to a boss and while supervising coworkers you used to work with. We will also discover the steps needed to gain respect in the new role of supervisory.

- How to balance and manage the relationships with previous co-workers?
- How to gain respect from previous co-workers?
- How do you set performance expectations?
- The Dos and Don’ts of an effective supervisor
Participants will walk away understanding the following:
How to develop communication skills being a supervisor?
- How do you set performance expectations?
- How to discipline when needed?
- How to manage a team of previous co-workers?
- How do conduct effective meetings?
- How and when to delegate?
- How do motivate employees?
- How to make a decision?
This session is for newly promoted supervisors, who have the responsibility of supervising co-workers, want to gain respect as a supervisor, want to build different relationships among co-workers, and want to lead as an example.
